Delight A. Roll

Delight A. Roll, age 85 of Plainwell, died on December 11, 2024. She was born on October 8, 1939, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Harold and Bessie (Flegal) Derksen. She was a 1957 graduate of Plainwell High School. Delight was determined and hardworking. She attended WMU and eventually received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from UofM, specializing in geriatric nursing. Her patients adored her. Delight spent the last decade of her career at the Springs of Bronson Place as a registered nurse and she did some home health care. 

On October 6, 1972, she married Mathew Roll, and they were married over 30 years. They attended Doster Reformed Church and Orangeville Baptist Church.

Her family includes siblings Rex (Shela) Derksen, Avice (John) Anderson, Hal (Janet) Derksen, BethAnn (James) Blanchard, and Lee (Pat) Derksen, along with many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Mathew. 

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, December 18 from 12:00–1:00 PM, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Location, 622 S. Burdick Street, Kalamazoo, where the funeral service will be at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Dan Bowman officiating. Donations in memory of Delight may be made to Orangeville Baptist Church, Plainwell, Michigan.
