Deanna Jane Hogarth

HOGARTH, Deanna Jane of Kalamazoo, Michigan Passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2014. Deanna was born June 17, 1941 in Three Rivers, MI the daughter of the late Oliver H. and Hazel Rasmussen Jensen. Deanna grew up in Marcellus, MI, where her father was a public school teacher and administrator and she was a graduate of Western Michigan University. She was a Kalamazoo resident for many years, where she was a teacher in the Kalamazoo Public School System for 28 years. On June 25, 1983, she married Gary Hogarth, who was also a Kalamazoo Public School teacher, who preceded her in death on June 12, 2010. Both Deanna and Gary were active long-time members of the First United Methodist Church in Kalamazoo and they travelled extensively in their retirement years. Deanna is survived by her step-children, Jon Kelly Hogarth of Schoolcraft, Todd Hillary Hogarth of Kalamazoo and Craig Linda Hogarth of Carmel, IN; 8 step-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Willard Robinson of MA; brothers, Carroll Jensen of Battle Creek and Bruce Jensen of ME; nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Friday, August 22, 2014, from 6-8 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 23, 2014 in the First United Methodist Church, 212 S. Park St., with Rev. Steven Charnley, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Parkinson Foundation of Michigan or the American Cancer Society.
