Age 60
Of Kalamazoo Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family, Thursday morning, January 10, 2008. David was born February 9, 1947 in Kalamazoo the son of Earle Lynn and Kathyrn "Ann" Ruth Markillie Wilson. He was preceded in death by his father Earle in 2005 and his mother Kathryn in 2004. He was a graduate of Galesburg-Augusta High School and was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army. David was employed as a Street Supervisor with the City of Portage for 32 years. In high school, David was an All-State athlete in tennis, football, and basketball. He was an all around sportsman, and in his later years was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing. David also enjoyed watching his sons and nephews various sporting events; he also loved watching all the cooking channels and Sportscenter on ESPN. On December 27, 1996 he was united in marriage to the former Kathy Penn who survives. Also surviving are his twin boys, Brett Mitchell Wilson and Ryan Courtney Wilson; 3 brothers, Tom Nancy Wilson, Mark Gretchen Wilson, Gregg Karen Wilson; an uncle, Allan Richard Jackie Markillie; and several nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate David's life will be held 11:00 o'clock Monday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre with Rev. Jim Dyke officiating. Interment will follow in South Portage Cemetery. Friends may meet the family Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Portage Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the Galesburg-Augusta Athletic Department. www.langelands.com
