of Kalamazoo Passed away August 25, 2011 at his residence. David was born February 21, 1950 in Plainwell, MI, a son of Norval and Jessie Downs Shafer and lived most of his life in Kalamazoo. Prior to his retirement, he worked for 23 years as a custodian for the U.S. Postal Service. David was an avid bowler and had won many bowling trophies. He also especially enjoyed riding bicycles with his father. Cremation has taken place. Friends and family may gather for a visitation on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St.. Memorial contributions in David's memory may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses. Checks to Amy Naidoo.
