David George Hunt passed away in Hendersonville, North Carolina on June 16, 2024, at the age of 97. David was born on January 4, 1927, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He graduated from Western Michigan University with a degree in Chemistry and started his family in Kalamazoo. The family moved several times from Michigan to Mississippi to Massachusetts to Ohio to Wisconsin, with the kids living in several other states as well. David was kind, faithful, could fix or build anything, well-traveled and well-read. Before he retired, he was the Technical Director at Consoweld in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. He was a brilliant, kind man who was funny and had a laugh that was contagious. He met his wife, Margaret, in high school and they were married for 61 years before she passed away in 2010.
David enjoyed working outside, working on woodworking projects or cars, and reading. He also loved to take walks and to swim laps. He was always busy, always moving, a trait he passed on to his children. He was so proud of his family and friends, and we will hold dear the stories we will be able to pass along to the great grandchildren. Stories of a funny, loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
David is survived by his children, Bob (Sam) of Raleigh, North Carolina; Mark (Ann Marie) of Boston, Massachusetts; Joan (Christopher) of Atlanta, Georgia; and Caryl (Stephen) of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jennifer (Charles), Rachael (Mitch), Brian, and Justin, and his great-grandchildren, Sadie, June, Hunt, Reeve, and Lydia.
David was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, parents, Bill and Georgina Hunt, and his siblings Bill, Nancy, and Margie. He passed away on Margaret’s birthday and they are together again. His wisdom, humor, and kindness will always be remembered. He was an exceptional man who will be missed by his family and friends.
David will be laid to rest with his beloved wife, Margaret, at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South on July 16 at 10:00 am.
