David W. Henson Sr.

David W. Henson Sr., age 86, of Galesburg, MI, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Ascension Borgess Hospital. David was born in Kalamazoo, MI, on February 13, 1936 to Cecil Ray Henson and Marian (Struble) Henson. He was united in marriage with Olimpia (Fleser) Henson on February 14, 1986. He worked in civil engineering for MDot, Civil Consulting, Delta Engineering, and Kalin Construction. He served the City of Galesburg as Chief of Police and Mayor. He was a member of Free Will Baptist Church. David loved nature, hunting, shooting, and collecting guns, and sailing. He had formerly owned Pat’s Gun Shop.

He is survived by his loving wife, Olimpia “Libby” Henson; children, Cynthia Henson of Florida, Kim (Wally) Corwin of Massachusetts, and David (Nancy) Henson Jr. of Hastings. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his son Garrett C. Henson.

Friends may visit with the family from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 205 East Maple St, Climax, MI 49034, where a funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Pastor Travis Davis will officiate the service with interment to follow in Roof Cemetery in Climax.
