David was born February 6, 1956, in Kalamazoo, the son of George and Elaine Brink Boyce and passed away Friday, September 24, 2010 in Kalamazoo. He was a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident who along with his wife Denise owned and operated Boyce Photography for many years. David received his Master of Photography degree as well as his Photographic Craftsman degree from the Professional Photographers of America. He was a member of the Professional Photographers of Michigan and was also past president of Professional Photographers of Western Michigan and Michigan Triangle Photography Association. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. On October 7, 1978, he was united in marriage to the former Denise Rutgers, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter and son, Rebeca John Heinsen and Alex Boyce; his mother, Elaine Boyce; his sister, Kathy Ken Klok; his parents-in-law, Marvin and Ollie Rutgers; brothers-in-law, Mark Rutgers, Ron Rutgers and Kyle Rutgers; nephews, Steve Pam Klok and Brendan, Brian Laurie Klok and Jacob and Alaina, Benjamin Rutgers, Christopher Rutgers, Shaun Rutgers. David was preceded in death by an infant brother, William and by his father, George. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Monday at Zion Lutheran Church 2122 Bronson Blvd. with Pastor Timothy Seeber officiating. A private family interment will be held Tuesday in West Cooper Cemetery. Memorials in David's memory may be directed to Rheumatoid Arthritis or to a scholarship fund for Great Lakes Institute of Photography.
