BLALOCK, Davada Elizabeth Schilling
of Kalamazoo Passed away Wednesday morning, June 15, 2011. Davada was born March 17, 1922 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Harry and Grace Schilling. She was a charter member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. Davada graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School and Western State Teacher's College WMU. She and Jesse Ray Blalock of Harleton, TX, who she met at a USO dance at Ft. Custer, were married February 2, 1946 after his discharge from the U.S. Army. Davada taught Home Economics at Mattawan High School, Adult Education in Portage Schools and was a dietitian at WMU Health Center. They lived in Pontiac and Lansing from 1970-1985. She is survived by her husband, Ray Blalock; children, Marcia Blalock of Houston, TX, Randy Karin Blalock of Mattawan, and Cheryl Blalock of New York City; grand-daughters, Jodi Rob Perry, Tracy Molnar; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Hayley Molnar, and Brendan and Cassidy Perry, all of Kalamazoo. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Miriam Anderson; and her brother, Charles Schilling. Services will be held at 2:00 o'clock Saturday, June 18, at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 7028 Oakland Dr, with Pastor Barry Petrucci officiating. Friends may meet the family at the church from 1:00-2:00 prior to the service. Private interment will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, Hospice Services of Southwest Michigan, or the Shepherd's Center.
