KIMBERLY, Daryl R.
Of Portage Daryl passed away Friday afternoon, April 9, 2010 at his home. He was born January 13, 1943 in Ann Arbor, the son of the late Rex and Betty Mummery Kimberly. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam Conflict. He was employed by Kalamazoo Psychiatric Hospital for 36 years until his retirement. On January 13, 1973, he was united in marriage to Dora E. Logee in Hillsdale, MI. Daryl earned his Master's degree in Social Work from University of Michigan. He was an avid lifelong fan of the Michigan Wolverines. Daryl's favorite vacation was spending time in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, especially during fall colors. He was a voracious reader and had a keen interest in history. Daryl acquired a collection of 50's-60's music, "Moldy Oldies", and could be heard humming tunes in the shower. Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Dora Kimberly; their four children, Philip Brenda Kimberly of Portage, Christina Erickson of Portage, Carolynn Kimberly of Manhattan, NY, and Colleen Kimberly of Kalamazoo; two grandchildren, Nickolis and Nathan Kimberly; three brothers, David Kimberly of Ann Arbor, Dennis Kimberly of Ann Arbor and Douglas Wendy Kimberly of Munith; one sister, Darlene Kim Beauregard of Ann Arbor; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at St. Monica Catholic Church, 534 W. Kilgore Road with Father Larry Farrell celebrant. Interment with military honors will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 5-8 PM on Monday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street. Memorial contributions may be directed to Covenant House.
