DEMAREST, Mr. Darrell B.
of Kalamazoo, MI Died Thursday morning September 6, 2012. Darrell was born March 31, 1928 in Butler Township, Michigan a son of Glen and Mabel Failing Demarest. Years ago, he served with the U.S. Navy. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident most of his life and was employed with Taylor Engineering & Wholesale Plumbing for years, retiring in 1991. Darrell was also a member of the American Legion; Ambucs; and the Elks Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers and a sister, Lester, Max, Fay, and Doris. On October 9, 1977, he was united in marriage to Radka D. Demarest who survives. Darrell is also survived by 6 children, Bruce Marilyn Demarest and Bonnie Frank Maxim all of Reno, NV, Babette Marty Osment of Gaines, MI, Brad Demarest of Grand Haven, MI, Carl Dimitri of Denver, CO, and Cindy Michael "Robbie" Robinson of Flint, MI; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; special nieces, Cindy Brooks of Rochester Hills, MI and LaDonna Mattson of Grand Rapids, MI; and several other nieces and nephews. Friends may meet the family 11-2pm Tuesday at the Elks Club, 5303 West Main St. Memorials may be directed to Lending Hands, 5350 Ivanhoe Ct., Portage, MI 49002 or the charity of your choice.
