TERPSTRA, Darlene K. "Dar"
Of Vicksburg, Michigan Dar went home to be with her Lord, Wednesday evening, September 24, 2008, after a short but hard fought battle with cancer. She was born December 19, 1946, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Arden and Grace Kuiper Powers. She was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Portage Central High School. On December 27, 1968, she was united in marriage to Ronald L. Terpstra. Dar was a lifelong active member of the First Reformed Church of Portage. The most important part of her life was her family, especially spending many special times with her grandchildren. Dar had been employed with Aramark Food Service at Pfizer; was a true animal lover and enjoyed motorcycling with her husband. Surviving are her husband Ron; three daughters, Vicki Jamie Loll of Plainwell, Cindi Tim Kirby of Vicksburg and Kristi Terpstra of Kalamazoo; five grandchildren, Megan, Faith and Joshua Loll, Alyssa Kirby and Xavion Terpstra; her mother, Grace Powers of Kalamazoo; a brother, Vern Joni Powers of Grand Rapids; in-laws, Don and Joyce Terpstra of Vicksburg; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends. Dar was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cathi Terpstra; her father, Arden Powers and her brother, Jim Powers. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Home, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Monday at the First Reformed Church of Portage 7905 S. Westnedge Ave with Rev. Mike Drew officiating. Following services there will be a time of food and fellowship in the church hall. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
