Darlene passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at the age of 80. Darlene was born June 1, 1937 in Kalamazoo to the late Jay Thomas and Bernice (Smith) Holderman. Darlene was united in marriage to Raymond Nesky on August 4, 1988 who preceded her in death in July of 1994. She was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Nora Simpson and Arlene Cox; and daughter-in-law, Patty Steffey.
Darlene is survived by four sons, Douglas Steffey, Daniel (Gail) Steffey, David Steffey and Steven Hubbard; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and her special friend and caregiver, Jeanne Kendall, along with many other friends. Darlene was raised in Kalamazoo where she lived a good portion of her life to include the last 30 years. She was also a resident of Comstock, Glendale, Schoolcraft, Mendon, Alamo and Gun Lake in Michigan as well as Kentucky and Florida for various periods of time. Darlene was a member of Bethany Reformed Church. Cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service on Tuesday, November 7th, 11:00a.m., at Bethany Reformed Church,1833 S Burdick St, Kalamazoo, MI 49001, with a light lunch to follow. A private family graveside service will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery where Darlene will be with Ray. Memorial contributions may be directed to Bethany Reformed Church or to Great Lakes Hospice.
