Kalamazoo, Michigan Darlene passed away Saturday afternoon, January 10, 2009 at Borgess Medical Center. She was born October 26, 1928 in Battle Creek, MI, a daughter of Dirk and Marguerite Schaffer Schilpsand. On June 13, 1947, she was united in marriage with Donald E. Blacker, who preceded her in death on August 12, 2008. Darlene was also preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are two daughters, Suzanne Timmer of Kalamazoo and Elaine Richard Oomen of Hobe Sound, FL; four grandchildren, Randy Stephanie Timmer, John Jillian DeGoede, Jeff DeGoede, and Jennifer DeGoede; two great-grandsons, Jacob Timmer and Ethan DeGoede; a sister, Betty Shively of Kalamazoo; a nephew, Dirk Shively; two aunts, Henrietta Schilpsand and Lois Ruple; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Beverley Emberton of Tolona, IL, Jim Barbara Blacker of Lake Wales, FL and Phyllis Walter Dubbeld of Inverness FL; and several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and there will be no public viewing or services. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of one's choice.
