Died June 11, 2010 at Bronson Hospital. Danny was born September 1, 1941 in Dexter, MO, a son of Leo Grim and Leona Mitchell and had lived in Kalamazoo for most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged after 6 years of service. Prior to his retirement, Danny was employed for 33 years as a Supervisor of the tool and die Department at General Motors. He was a car enthusiast and was instrumental along with his cousin Rolla Mitchell in starting the Kalamazoo Valley Street Rod Association. Danny was preceded in death by his parents and a great-grandson Baby Charlie. On April 13, 1963, he was married to Helga M. Kneisch, who survives. Also surviving are 3 daughters and 1 son, Gail Carrington, Danny Grim, Katharina Grim and Maria Grim Millers, all of Kalamazoo; 5 grandchildren, TJ Haas, Emily Haas, Josh Lambert, Justin Hettinger and Sierra Millers; 3 great-grandchildren, AJ Haas, Sammy Haas and Emmalise Windschell; 4 sisters and 1 brother, Elsie Ed Kiel of Florida, Sonja MacIntyre of portage, Saunders Grim of Alabama, Melinda Holly Webster of Grand Ledge and Brenda Johnson of Alabama; a brother-in-law KarlHeinz Kneisch of Germany; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Services will be held at 1 pm on Thursday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. with the Rev. David Mitchell officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest North Cemetery. Friends may meet the family on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Danny's memory be made to Hospice Care of S.W. Michigan.
