Went to be with his Lord on Thursday, February 21, 2019. Age 42. Danny was born in Kalamazoo, MI on May 28, 1976, the son of Hendrik and Mary Lou (Bonselaar) Bakhuyzen. He attended Trinity Learning Center at East Christian and then completed his schooling at Y.A.P. (Young Adult Center). He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. Danny was very active and enjoyed playing soccer, basketball, and softball. He participated in the Area 16 Special Olympics for many years, receiving twenty-seven gold medals. He was a loving person with a jolly personality, who loved to play practical jokes on people. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lou Bakhuyzen; and his brother, Nick Bakhuyzen. Surviving are his father and step-mother, Hendrik and Martee Bakhuyzen; sister, Kim (David) LaPorte; brother, Mark (Tonya) Bakhuyzen; brother, Mike (Kele) Bakhuyzen; step-sister, Linda Stermer; sister-in-law, Nancy McCloud; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2018 at Immanuel Fellowship Church, 6015 West H Avenue, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. The funeral service will be held at the church on Saturday at 11 a.m., where friends are invited to join the family for a reception following the service. A private family committal service will be held at Mt. Ever Rest Memorial Park, South later. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Residential Opportunities Inc.
