Strickland Sr., Dale W.
of Plainwell, Michigan Passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the age of 89. He was born in Daly, Michigan on October 15, 1923, the son of the late Sterlie Lloyd and Bessie May Yoder Strickland. He served with the United States Navy during World War II. He served as a Sherriff's Deputy with the Kalamazoo County Sherriff's Department for eleven years and then worked in maintenance for Comstock Public School's for ten years. He was a member of the V.F.W. Comstock Post 6252, the American Legion in Climax and Disabled American Veterans. He was married to Rosa Aguirre in 1941; she preceded him in death in 1983. He later was married to Elsa Valkner in 1986; she preceded him in death in 2009. Surviving are his children, Dale Judy Strickland Jr. of Plain City, Ohio, Rosslind Darrell Plough of Plainwell and Wesley Judy Strickland of Ft. Myers, Florida; three grandchildren, D. Eric Strickland of Lansing, Keith Cheryl Strickland of Oregon and Mark Laura Strickland of Arizona; two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Dale was preceded in death by his brother and sister, Chester Strickland and Hava Kellogg. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 19, 2013 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., where the funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Rev. James Codde will officiate with interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Reverence Hospice.
