Dale S. Snyder

SNYDER, Dale S. Kalamazoo Passed away Sunday, November 28, 2010. Dale was born February 21, 1923 in Albion, MI, a son of Tracy Roy and Lillian Barrett Snyder. For many years, Dale was employed as a printer and at age 40, he decided to return to college to become a school teacher and served the Jackson Public School System for 17 years. He served his country during WW II in the United States Navy and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Kalamazoo. On June 2, 1944, he married the love of his life, Mary Ellen Runkel, who survives. Also surviving are their children, Laura Douglas Brant of Grand Rapids, Thomas Brenda Snyder of Fife Lake, MI and Matthew Marijo Snyder of Kalamazoo; 11 grandchildren, Kevin Abby, Elizabeth and Adam Brant, Jesse Theresa, Benjamin Jill Snyder, Katherine Scott Furman, Nathan, Carl, Brendan, Kristen and Colleen Snyder; one brother, Robert Donna Snyder of Jackson; a sister, Joyce Jim Oliver-Tonneberger of Adrian; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service will be held at The Fountains at Bronson Place. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be given to the Alzheimer's Association or Bronson Health Foundation-Palliative Care Services.
