Of Portage Passed away Sunday evening, September 18, 2011. Dale was born December 16, 1928 in Kalamazoo the son of the late Harry and Hortense Smith Fawley and had been a lifelong resident in the Kalamazoo area. Dale was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School, class of 1947. He was employed with Michigan Bell until his retirement and then later worked with the Upjohn Company for several years. Dale loved playing fast pitch softball; and played on the 1953 state championship team which was Flynn's Superburger. On September 18, 1948 he was united in marriage to his loving wife of 63 years, the former Patricia Pryson who survives. Also surviving are his children, David Karen Fawley, Marc Fawley, Christin Fawley-Zehner, Scott and LuAnn Duncan-Fawley, Dana Ball; grandchildren, Kyle, Katlyn Zehner, Amanda, Rachel, Edward and Renee Ball, Dan and Leslie Beach, Clark and Kim Brown; great-grandchildren, Mykah Zehner, Jessica, Cooper, Chandler, and Parker Beach, C.J., Jordan, and Katie Brown; and several nieces and nephews. Dale was preceded in death by a grandson, Cody Zehner; and a brother, Harry Fawley, Jr. Friends may meet the family Thursday from 6-8pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 o'clock Friday at the St. Andrew Community Church, 3631 Covington, with Pastor Jim Dyke officiating. Private interment will be in South Portage Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the American Lung Association or the charity of your choice. www.langelands.com
