Craig W. Omo

Craig W. Omo, age 76 of Portage, died on October 16, 2023. He was born April 22, 1947, in Coldwater, the oldest son of Clair and Donna (Mohr) Omo. Craig was a 1965 graduate of Quincy High School and he received his bachelor’s degree in Education from Western Michigan University in 1969. During this time, he was raising his two sons with his first wife. He coached them in baseball and football while they were growing up. From 1991-2021, Craig owned and operated multiple Subway Stores in the Kalamazoo and Portage areas. On August 20, 2004, he married Kathy (Steimel) Hazel and was blessed with three stepchildren in the union. Craig was an avid Detroit Lions and Tigers fan and through the years loved to cheer for the WMU football and hockey teams. Another favorite past time was enjoying fishing on his boat or with his family. His family includes his wife Kathy Omo; his sons: Chris Omo and Chad (Jennifer) Omo; his step-children: Amy (Jose) Rangel, Daniel (Tammy) Hazel, and Megan (Benjamin) Aubry; his grandchildren: Connor and Colin; his step-grandchildren: David, Eddie, Otto, Isaac, Alexis, Jose, Benjamin, Kadence, Eleanor, and Margaret; sister-in-law Pamela Omo; nieces: Marcella and Michonne; cousins: Edward Sattler and Greg Brandt; and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Gary Omo.
