Formerly of Kalamazoo Nellie went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 5, 2012. She passed away peacefully at The Lakeview, Cadillac, MI. Nellie was 101 years old. She was born May 24, 1910, in Taintor, IA, the daughter of Richard and Marie Verkou Decker. She moved to Kalamazoo in 1929 and moved to her son's home in Manton in October 2007. Married to Jacob C. Roundhouse on January 23, 1936; they celebrated their 56th Wedding Anniversary in January of 1992 before Jake's death that October. She was a homemaker, raising three children, and the right hand of her husband's business venturesa�"home building and trout farming. Nellie was an outstanding cook; she was always ready to pour you a cup of tea when you visited. In her later years, she was an avid prayer warrior for her family and friends. She is survived by her son, Jay N. Sandra Roundhouse of Manton; one sister, Elizabeth Norris of Downey, CA; two brothers, William A. Greta Decker, M.D., of Kalamazoo and the Rev. Dr. Clarence F. Lucile Decker of Columbus, OH; four grandchildren, Cheryl Marie Baker Camp, Joseph Michael, Harold Jay, and Jaynell Louise Hogan; numerous great-and great-great grandchildren; a special nephew, Earl Jane Decker, and many other attentive nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons, infant Cornelius and John; a daughter, Marie Gloria Baker; a grandson, Jacob Arthur; four sisters and five brothers: Elfrieda Benedetti, Gertrude D. Plooy, Bertha D. Chancey, Marie W. Copp, John, Richard W., Harold, Arnold B., and Joe Decker. A committal service will be held in Mt. EverRest Mausoleum Chapel at 11:00 o'clock Friday, March 9. Memorial contributions may be made to Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes.
