Formerly of Texas Corners Passed away Sunday morning, September 11, 2011. Connie was born June 10, 1913, in Kalamazoo the daughter of Peter and Lena Heystek Clapp. She spent many years on Crooked Lake before moving to Battle Creek in 1999. Connie and Ted owned their own restaurant for several years on Western?s campus called the Teddy Bair. After closing the restaurant, Connie retired from Western Michigan University where she worked for over 25 years as the Burnham Dorm Food Service Director. Connie was a member of the Christian Science Church of Kalamazoo. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren and making baked goods for them. She also enjoyed gardening, and camping trips in her earlier years. On August 4, 1945 she was united in marriage to her husband, Theodore ?Ted? Bair who preceded her in death in 1969. She was also preceded in death by a step-daughter, Patsy Avery; and 4 brothers, Herbert, Martin, John, and Henry Clapp. She is survived by her son, Larry Cindy Bair of Battle Creek; step-son, David Kate Bair of Traverse City; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Clapp; and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to give special thanks to the staff of the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility for their caring, loving, compassionate care for Connie during her stay there. Services will be held at 1:30 Friday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. Friends may meet the family from 11:30 until the time of service. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery in Texas Corners. Memorials may be directed to the Kalamazoo Nature Center or the Christian Science Church of Kalamazoo.
