Cora Schoonbeck

SCHOONBECK, Cora Kalamazoo Passed away on December 2, 2006 at Upjohn Nursing Home. Cora was born October 7, 1912 in Kalamazoo, MI, the daughter of Nicholas and Maria Bogard Zantjer and was a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo. Cora was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Congregation. She enjoyed knitting and over the years made many afghans that she gave to family members. Cora loved her family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Angeline Stryd and a brother Gerrit Zantjer. Surviving are 1 son and 2 daughters, Kenneth Gera Schoonbeck of Kalamazoo, Mary Ann Donald Spitters of Hendersonville, TN and Marjorie Edward Staron of Portage; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister Jeanette Meints of Kalamazoo and a sister-in-law Ruth Zantjer of Kalamazoo; several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11:00 o?clock Tuesday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. with the Rev. Cornelius Vogelaar officiating. Private interment in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Friends may meet the family Monday evening from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Cora?s memory may be made to Heritage Community of Kalamazoo or the Providence Christian School.
