UNGER, Constance K. "Connie"
Of Vicksburg Died February 19 , 2013 at the age of 66. She was born June 25, 1946 in Muskegon, MI to the late Angelo and Matilda Gee Tomaras. She was united in marriage to Frank Unger on October 9, 1971, who survives. Connie was a longtime member of St. Catherine of Siena Church. She was always a cheerful giver with a perpetual smile, lending a listening ear to all around her. She worked for many years as a loving and nurturing kindergarten aide, and then later on devoted her time to middle school and high school students with special needs. Connie treasured her time with family and friends, enjoyed playing cards, games and puzzles, and had a great talent for all sorts of crafts including sewing, crocheting, and ceramics. Her children and grandchildren brought her a special joy. Connie leaves behind 2 daughters, Jennifer Louis Miller and Susan Kristafer Kinens; 7 grandchildren, Dominic, Luke, Mary, John and Theodore Miller, Ryan and Kaitlynn Kinens; brothers, John Tomaras, Thomas Mary Tomaras and Edward Cindy Miel Tomaras; sister, Katherine Kraig Ivie; and many nieces and nephews. Family will greet friends on Sunday, February 24th from 6-8pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 East Centre Ave, Portage, MI. A funeral Mass will take place on Monday at 11:00am at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1150 West Centre Ave, Portage, MI, with a luncheon to follow. The committal service will be held Tuesday, 1:00pm at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Those wishing to join the funeral procession should arrive at the Portage Chapel no later than 12:10pm on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission, 448 N. Burdick St., Kalamazoo, MI 49007.
