Krapf, Conrad Reuben
Kalamazoo, MI

Conrad was born April 15, 1952, the son of William and Mary (Roe) Krapf. He passed away November 6 after a long battle with Polycystic Kidney Disease and heart trouble. He graduated from Comstock High School and Western Michigan University and worked for the United States Department of Defense as a quality control inspector for military equipment manufactured in Michigan, including Humvees and M-1 Abrams tanks. He had a life-long love of flying and earned his private pilot's license after joining the Sky Broncos. He volunteered as a docent at the Air Zoo and also worked with kids in the Experimental Aircraft Association's Young Eagles Program which gave kids a no cost experience of flying in small aircraft and an introduction to general aviation. He read avidly anything and everything about flying, including space exploration. He was a walking encyclopedia of the history of flight. He is survived by his brother Roderic (Nancy) Krapf, another brother Gregory Krapf, a sister Lynn Krapf, a nephew, two nieces, a grand-nephew, and numerous cousins. Visitation will be held 3-6pm Friday, November 9th at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th St. Private interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Comstock. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Air Zoo and the PKD Foundation.
