Conrad was born April 15, 1952, the son of William and Mary (Roe) Krapf. He passed away November 6 after a long battle with Polycystic Kidney Disease and heart trouble. He graduated from Comstock High School and Western Michigan University and worked for the United States Department of Defense as a quality control inspector for military equipment manufactured in Michigan, including Humvees and M-1 Abrams tanks. He had a life-long love of flying and earned his private pilot's license after joining the Sky Broncos. He volunteered as a docent at the Air Zoo and also worked with kids in the Experimental Aircraft Association's Young Eagles Program which gave kids a no cost experience of flying in small aircraft and an introduction to general aviation. He read avidly anything and everything about flying, including space exploration. He was a walking encyclopedia of the history of flight. He is survived by his brother Roderic (Nancy) Krapf, another brother Gregory Krapf, a sister Lynn Krapf, a nephew, two nieces, a grand-nephew, and numerous cousins. Visitation will be held 3-6pm Friday, November 9th at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th St. Private interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Comstock.
