LEMON, Connie Sue Reid
Of Lady Lake, FL
Formerly of Kalamazoo Connie passed away Saturday, February 12, 2011 in The Villages, FL. She was born October 10, 1939 to Wayne & Rhuby Dull Reid in Kalamazoo, Ml, and moved to Lady Lake, Florida in 2005. Connie was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2009. The chemo treatments had the cancer beat but the cancer progressed into her muscles and then she was diagnosed with Dermatomyositis, which is a gradual weakening of the muscles. In June 2010, she reached a plateau and fought a long, lingering battle until finally succumbing. Connie graduated from Richland High School in 1957. She married Larry Graff and they had 2 children, Becky and Charles. Larry and Connie divorced in 1967 and in 1970, she married James Lemon. She worked as a secretary for Clarage Fan Co. until they closed the doors in 1983, and Jim & Connie moved to Homestead, FL, where Connie started to work for Charles R. Sowe, Esq. as his legal secretary. Then she worked for Stearns, Weaver, et al, a large Law Firm in Miami, FL. Jim & Connie had 2 main hobbies which afforded them the excuse and opportunity to travel extensively throughout the United States and Canada. Their hobbies were raising rabbits and family genealogy. Connie was very active in many National and Local rabbit clubs winning numerous awards and honors. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing and other handy crafts. Connie was known by her family and friends to love life and laughter. Survivors include her husband, James of Lady Lake, FL; 2 sons, Kevin Lemon of Lacey, WA and Charles Graff of Miami, FL; 3 daughters, Becky Bohne of Homestead, FL, Michelle Brazier of Plainwell, MI, and Teresa Knisely of Logansport, IN; 1 brother, Norman Reid, Otsego, MI; 2 sisters, Frances Landsberger of Otsego, Ml and Sharon Nunnelee of Wayland, Ml; 8 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 pm Friday, Feb. 18, 2011 at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Galesburg Chapel, 145 W. Battle Creek St., where friends may visit with the family from 11 AM until the time of services. Interment will follow in Cook Cemetery, Scotts.
