Conn L. Macomber

November 10, 1941 — August 21, 2024

Climax, Michigan

Herein is a tale of a very special man, loved and respected by all who knew him. He was never forgotten once he met someone, as his smile touched one's very core and it was present throughout your conversation with him. There was not a task he could not accomplish, never a loss for answers to my inquiries in 60 years of marriage, being a very widely read individual. Example: he had read all the volumes in the Washington Square Library near his family home by the age of 14. His brilliant mind remembered books he had read at that stage in his life. He was well educated from Western Michigan University with a BA in physics, chemistry, and math, a master's degree in experimental psychology from WMU, and just short of receiving his doctorate at same on the same subject. He was an Eagle Scout, started his first real career as a chemist for the City of Detroit, then a physicist for General Electric making industrial diamonds, moving on to owning his own Kalamazoo Home improvement business, purchasing it from his father. From there, over time, he became director of all construction at WMU while enjoying piloting his own Cessna 182 aircraft and piloting two large motor yachts on Lake Michigan, one moored at Saugatuck, and one moored at Onekama at Portage Lake. He gave our family a lifetime of experiences, purchasing a farm with me to widen our children's and our grandchildren's life horizons with large animals and all that a farm entails. He repaired all of our barns and built all of our horse stalls for the family horses. He was a master Field Trialer with our English Pointer hunting dogs.

Conn L Macomber was born the only son to Milo and Nellie (Doty) Macomber on November 10, 1941. His parents have pre-deceased him. He attended Kalamazoo Public Schools graduating from the original Kalamazoo Central High School in 1959. Conn passed away by my side in the wee hours of August 21, 2024. It was a true blessing, as he had been extremely ill for two years with no end in sight but to enter into the Kingdom of the Lord. Conn and I were married March 28, 1964, together sharing a living legacy of four children: Stephan (Meghan), Daphney (Craig Dotson), Morgan (Pamela), and Ian (Laura). He was pre-deceased by our first grandchild, Ashley Kaye, leaving three more granddaughters, Taylor (Tanner Gibson), Sydney (Forrest Cope), and Megan Macomber, and her significant other, Samuel Way. Currently, Conn is survived by three great-grandchildren, Cali, Clyde, and Harper Mae. Conn also leaves a sister, Judith (Robert Beam), and their two sons, his nephews, Andrew Beam and Daniel Beam, being pre-deceased by their sister, Jennifer Beam, Conn's niece, but leaving Daniel's three children, Lauren, Allyson, and Joseph, his two great nieces and great nephew.

There will be a CELEBRATION OF LIFE OPEN HOUSE for Conn on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at the Scotts Community Center, 8450 South 36th Street, Scotts, Michigan from 1-4 pm.
