Clifford L. Smith

SMITH, Clifford L. Portage Passed away Thursday, April 12, 2007, at his residence in Portage, Michigan. He was born March 5, 1917 in LaJunta, Colorado, to the late LeRoy and Gladys Kerr Smith. Clifford married his lovely bride, Mary Ellen Coats, in Dodge City, Kansas, on November 3, 1937. They were married 69 years. Mary Ellen, presently of Portage, MI., survives. Clifford was a longtime member of the Elks Lodge. He had a love of all aspects of cars, mechanically and all other ways. He also loved working with his hands, specifically, repairing anything that required fixing. Clifford was employed at WestCo Oil for 30 years, retiring in 1983. Surviving children are; Gayle Larry Klinkers of Portage, LeRoy Veronica Smith of Rhode Island, and Dr. Gale Rosemary Smith of Maryland; grandchildren, Kevin and Brian Spangelo, Deborah, Michael, LeRoy and Amy Smith; 3 great grandchildren; step grand daughter, Peggy Mike Carter. A memorial service will take place Friday, April 20, 2007, 2:00PM, at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, Rev. James Dyke, officiating.
