HOOGAKKER, Claude B.
Scotts, Michigan Claude passed away Friday morning, October 31, 2008 at his home with hospice. He was born March 30, 1915 in Kalamazoo, the son of Barney and Anna Nuyen Hoogakker. Claude was a lifetime farmer and was employed by Georgia-Pacific formerly Kalamazoo Paper Co. for 29 years until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of North Park Reformed Church. Preceding him in death were his first wife, Ruth Burr; second wife, Esther Ouding Hoogakker; his parents; 1 daughter, Claudia Hill; step-son, John W. Iles; 1 brother, Bill Hoogakker; and 1 sister, Armenia Langdon. Surviving are 2 daughters, Ann Allen Merrian of Vicksburg of Vicksburg, and Bonnie Jim Nelson of Richland; 3 step-children, Dorothy Sharp of Vicksburg, Jimmy Janelle Iles of Delton, and Arlene Dan Pryson of Vicksburg; step-daughter-in-law, Carol Iles; 27 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Claude will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at North Park Reformed Church, 1316 Barney Road, with Rev. Paul D. Fazio officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 PM on Monday and 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Tuesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
