ELLIS, Mrs. Clarice L. VanderVeen
Grand Blanc, Michigan Formerly of Kalamazoo 1939-2002 and Grand Rapids 1917-1939 passed into the arms of her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, May 24, 2010. She was born to Lewis and Bertha Tilma VanderVeen, December 14, 1917. She graduated from Union High in Grand Rapids and married David A. Ellis October 11, 1939. David and Clarice moved to Kalamazoo soon after their marriage. In 2002 she moved to the Grand Blanc area to be closer to family. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Maynard and Gerald, and her husband, David A. 1984. She leaves to remember her, sons Duane A. and Janis of Comstock Park and Rodger D. and Nancy of Grand Blanc. Also surviving are grandchildren and great-grandchildren Karen and Mike Mortensen Wyatt and Emma, Paul and Karen Ellis Claire and Molly, and Patrick and Laura Ellis Owen and Grace. Clarice is survived by sister-in- law Mildred VanderVeen and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Clarice was a charter member of the Kalamazoo Westwood United Methodist Church where she joyfully taught Sunday school for more than 20 years. Services will be held 11 o'clock Thursday at the Westwood United Methodist Church, 538 Nichols Rd. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8pm Wednesday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Private interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest North Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Westwood United Methodist Church or the Kalamazoo Christian High School. www.langelands.com . 343-1508.
