VOLLINK, Mrs. Clara
Of Portage Went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 8, 2008. Clara was born August 27, 1914, in Moline, Michigan, the daughter of Thomas and Katie VanderZee Pasma. For several years she was employed at Western Michigan University, retiring in 1980. Clara was a member of the First Reformed Church of Portage. On October 19, 1939, she was united in marriage to Marines "Pete" Vollink who preceded her in death on November 10, 1998. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Fran, Mina and Jo; and four brothers, Bill, Pete, Clarence and Hank. Surviving are her three children, Mary James Hilbrecht of Kalamazoo, Cheryl Bartholomew of Kalamazoo; Cal Jean Vollink of Portage; grandchildren, Katie Ryan Shaw, Annie Jeff Lash, Todd Dana Bartholomew, Chris Bev Bartholomew, Sara Vollink and Lisa Vollink; great-grandchildren, Isaac and Ava Shaw and Zachary Bartholomew; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Avenue where a Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday with Pastors Mike Drew and Ed Martin officiating. A private interment will be held in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Memorials in Clara's memory may be directed to the First Reformed Church of Portage or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
