Of Schoolcraft Christopher died Thursday, September 30, 2010 at his home. He was born March 4, 1984, in Kalamazoo, MI, a son of Christopher and Teresa Clark Martin and had been a life long area resident. He served in the US Army from 2006 to 2007 before being discharged. Chris enjoyed dirt biking, fishing and even karaoke. His affection towards others was evident with hugs and kisses upon arrival and departure while visiting family and friends. His smile and his sense of humor, while sometimes cheesy, were enjoyed by all. Chris was preceded in death by his father in 1993. Surviving are; three children, Angel Rose Martin, Haven Jade Martin and Isabelle Ann Martin; mother and step-father, Teresa Scott Phillips; four sisters, Cynthia Scott Williams, Carrie M. Phillips, Mystique Kevin Matson and Jazmin Phillips; a brother, Joshua Martin; maternal grandmother, Alta Clark; paternal grandfather, Dr. Clinton Martin; aunts and uncles, Jonathan "Mark" Ann Martin, Lisa Doug Nelson, Gwen Rickey Burton, Cathy Clark and Trina Kip VanderVelden; many nieces, nephews and cousins; his girlfriend, Danielle M. Schuring and his best friend, Gregory Fawley. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Services will be held 1:00 Monday afternoon at the funeral home with Pastor Randy Burnett of 12th Street Baptist, officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. The family has asked that donations be made to the funeral home for assistance with funeral expenses.
