Kalamazoo Mr. Koets passed away Sunday afternoon, June 8, 2008 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. He was born December 8, 1921 in Kalamazoo, the son of the late Chris and Maggie Dozeman Koets. Chris was employed by Kalamazoo Asbestos for 40 years until his retirement. He was a member of Second Reformed Church and F. & A. M. Kalamazoo-Anchor Lodge #22. On June 14, 1946, Chris was united in marriage to Carol Bos, who survives. Also surviving are their 2 daughters, Christine Bush of Portage and Cynthia Larry Spaman of Allegan; 5 grandchildren, Kimberly Brian Myers of Vicksburg, Kevin W. Bush of Kalamazoo, Ryan C. Kristi Bush of Plainwell, Shannon fiancé, Chris Reibitz Spaman of Novi, Travis fiancée, Lindsey Schaap Spaman of Holland; 3 great-grandchildren, Selina, Taylor, and Cooper Myers; 1 brother, Harley Edith Koets of Florida; 1 sister-in-law, Virginia Kooi of California; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Chris will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street. Interment will follow in Grand Prairie Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Diabetes Association.
