Christine H. Vander Weele went to be with the Lord on Friday December 18, 2009 and is now at rest in Jesus' loving arms. Christine was born on January 31, 1924 to Edward and Willemina Van Dyke in Kalamazoo Michigan. On June 2, 1943 she was married to her sweetheart, Anthony Tony Vander Weele, who preceded her in death on June 29, 2009. At their home in Cooper Township, the couple raised 5 children, Christine helping Tony grow produce for sale at the Kalamazoo City Market and on their home produce stand for 55 years. She loved all kinds of craft making, music, animals, and enjoyed traveling with Tony in their retirement to many places from Alaska to Florida. Christine loved her family dearly and most of all, she loved Jesus whom she served faithfully until her final breath. Her faithful service to Jesus is a heritage, memory, and testimony that will go on living with her family. Surviving are 5 of their 6 children, Jan Paul Hoogenboom of Kalamazoo, Karen Henry Renzema of Kalamazoo, Dale Vander Weele of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Kalvin Karen Vander Weele of Plainwell, and Michael Gail Vander Weele of Kalamazoo. Along with her husband Tony, an infant daughter preceded her in death in 1967. Christine had 19 grandchildren, Brian, Aaron, Gwen, Eric, Christina, Emily, Willem, Nathan, Nicolas, Joy, Steven, Rebecca, Gretchen, Jessica, Heidi, Robert, David, Laura and Carolyn. Christine was also blessed with 24 great-grandchildren. Brothers and sisters include Tom Nina Van Dyke deceased, Laura Chuck Stapert deceased, Henrietta Ralph Timmerman deceased, Eva Hughes deceased and Genevieve Robert Vander Weele of Dorr, Everard deceased and Sam Elsie Van Dyke of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Christine was a faithful member of Second Christian Reformed Church. Visitation will be at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street on Monday, December 21 from 6-8 PM. The family will also receive family and friends beginning at 10:00 AM on Tuesday morning before the 11:00 AM funeral service at Second Christian Reformed Church, 3015 Nichols Rd. A private interment will take place at West Cooper Cemetery. Memorials in Christine's memory can be made to Second Christian Reformed Church or Kalamazoo Bethany Christian Services.
