SIMPSON, Christine W.
Of Kalamazoo Mrs. Simpson passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Bickford Cottage. She was born January 22, 1924 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of the late William and Helen Hoadley DeCrocker and was raised and grew up in Bloomingdale. On June 13, 1942, she was united in marriage to George Simpson, who preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 2007. Christine spent most of her years, raising and caring for her family, and was an accomplished cook and loved to bake. She liked collecting antiques and for a few years was an antique dealer. Christine also enjoyed photography and loved the outdoors. For 37 years, she worked with her husband as the bookkeeper in their family business, Simco Molds. Surviving are her four children, Michael W. Simpson of Fallbrook, CA, Leigh Simpson of Battle Creek, Gail Douglas Latimer of Dallas, TX, and James Simpson of Mattawan; three grandchildren, Michael D. Simpson, Colin Latimer and Amelia Latimer; sister, Jane Ullom of Sturgis; brother, John Joyce DeCrocker of Kalamazoo; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service is being planned for a later date. Private interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be directed to Kalamazoo Gospel Mission or Chapel Hill United Methodist Church - Food Pantry.
