SCHEFFLER, Christine M.
Of Kalamazoo, MI Christine passed away Friday, July 17, 2009. She was born September 8, 1918, the daughter of William and Mary Boersma VanDerMolen. She was a longtime resident of Plainwell, moving to Kalamazoo in 1970. Christine enjoyed volunteering at the Kalamazoo Humane Society; playing cards; going out to eat with her Widow and Widowers Group; arts and crafts; but most of all loved spending time with her family. Prior to her retirement she was employed as a dietician for 13 years with Plainwell Sanitarium and 13 years with Upjohn Nursing Home. On February 25, 1937, Christine was married to Nicholas Scheffler, who preceded her in death in 1970. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Freda VanDerPloeg and Johanna Magerman; and her son, Nicholas Scheffler in 2008. Surviving are two daughters, Nancy David King and Sandy Ron Stuut all of Kalamazoo; 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Lawrence VanDerMolen of Martin; nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Monday from 1-2 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Home, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street where services will be held beginning 2:00 PM Monday. A private interment will be held in Plainwell Hillside Cemetery. Memorials in Christine's memory may be directed to the Kalamazoo Humane Society. www.langelands.com
