TYLER, Charles R.
Of Portage Passed away Sunday evening, September 16, 2012 at his residence with his boots on. Charles was born February 15, 1938 in Allegan, MI the son of Richard and Barbara Lung Tyler. He served in the National Guard. Prior to his retirement he worked for 41 years as a machinist with the Stryker Corporation. Chuck attended the Bangor Baptist Church, loved to sing karaoke and fishing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On August 30, 1958 he was united in marriage to his loving wife, the former Alberta Heckman, who preceded him in death on October 1, 2010. He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Debra; and 2 sisters and a brother. Surviving are 2 children, Tim Pam Tyler, and Kimberly Tyler; 5 grandchildren, Tim, Charlie II, Amber, Matt, Janie; 7 great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Breanna, Leeanna, Aden, Dakota, Charlie III, and Colin; his dog, "Bucky"; 2 sisters, Frankie Britten and Betty Hambley; several nieces and nephews; and many close friends. Services will be held on Wednesday, September 19, at 12:00pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Friends may meet the family today from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Westside Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association.
