SENNE, Mr. Charles F. "Dick"
Schoolcraft, Michigan Died Saturday mid morning June 12, 2010, Charles Senne, known in his inner circle as Dick, joined his dear departed wife Evelyn and beloved daughter Patti. Born in Kalamazoo July 5, 1921, son of Charles A. Gus and Pearl Krumm Senne, owners of the Chocolate Shop, Dick graduated Kalamazoo Central High, enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp August 1942, married Evelyn Swan of Kalamazoo April 19, 1943 in Boise Idaho, then served overseas in Italy as Staff Sergeant in the 764th Bomb Squadron 461st Bomb Group H during WWII. In their 64 years of marriage, Dick and Evelyn were to have a son Richard Senne of Kalamazoo, daughter Lynn Whyle of Vicksburg, and the late Patricia Capman. Also surviving are brother, August L. Gus Senne of Kalamazoo, 6 grandchildren, Rebecca, Kenneth, and Casey Capman of Kalamazoo, Steven Bauserman of Climax and Julie Glazebrook of Northville, Mi, Molly Senne of Kalamazoo and 3 great grandchildren, Kelsey Emery of Richland, and Carly and Alexander Glazebrook of Northville. Dick worked for 31 years at the Upjohn Company as an HVAC design draftsman in the engineering division. He loved to travel through Colorado and parts of Canada with his family. In retirement he enjoyed driving cars for dealer trades and rental car agencies with many of his friends. He had a passion for dogs and over the years he and his wife, Evelyn, enjoyed many different breeds as pets. Services will be held 11 o'clock Friday from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Visitation will be 6-8pm Thursday. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be directed to the Kalamazoo Humane Society.
