Kalamazoo, Michigan 49001 Died Friday afternoon May 9, after struggling with health issues. Charles was born on December 27, 1939 in Kalamazoo, Michigan the son of John and Alice Fredenberg Schuur. After high school Charles served his country as a member of the Army National Guard. He then learned the carpet laying trade from his brother, Paul. He worked his trade in Kalamazoo and then in Southern California until he moved back to Kalamazoo in 1992. He last worded with Wells Aluminum until his health forced him to retire. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Cindy; 2 half brothers, Paul Schuur and Morris Manbeck; a half sister, Charlene Laster on May 12, 1999. On March 19, 1999, he was united in marriage to Karen L. Derhammer Schuur who survives. Also surviving are 2 children, John Schuur of Kalamazoo and Amanda Alsborg of CA; 2 step sons, Johann Moguel of Denver, CO and Anthony Courtney Moguel of Kalamazoo; several grandchildren; 2 sisters, Ann Erwin Koets of Burnsville, MN and Patricia David Moran of Portage; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1 o'clock on Wednesday at the Beacon Club, 5830 Portage Road. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation.
