of Portage, Michigan Peacefully passed away at home in Portage on Thursday September 5, 2013. Charles was a loving husband, wonderful father, a wise and caring Grandfather and Great Grandfather. Born February 25th, 1926 in Kalamazoo, MI to Harold and Elise Moore and he spent his childhood in Schoolcraft. Charles married the love of his life Shirley G. Lawson in 1949 who preceded him in death in 1995. Charles was a WWII veteran in the 28th infantry division mechanized recon troop. Charles retired from James River after 37 years of employment and was a longtime member of the KVAE&MC. He loved antique tractors and attending tractor shows. Charles is survived by 5 children Richard Nancy Moore, David Sheril Moore, Deborah Peck, Betty Robert Eddings, Rhonda Dodson, 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Charles loved hunting, fishing and camping with his family. Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 East Centre Avenue, where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2013. Rev. Victor K. Downing will officiate with interment in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park with military honors. Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
