Charles (Chuck) Kuiper of Portage passed away at his home on September 29, 2024, with his loving wife by his side after a long battle with a rare form of Leukemia.
Chuck was born on August 5, 1954, in Portage to the late Harm H. and Alta (Moore) Kuiper. He was a graduate of Portage Central High School in 1972 and soon after began a 40-year career in the paper industry, a career that saw him relocate to Fort Wayne, IN, before returning home to Portage in 2000.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 48 years, Peggy (Payne) Kuiper of Portage. Also surviving are his two children, Adam Kuiper of Leesport, PA, and Dawn (Zack) Loeprich of Portage; three grandchildren Kaitlyn Kuiper, Leah Loeprich and Grayson Loeprich; and sister Darlene Kuiper.
Chuck loved a good book, a vacation with his wife, a trip to The Root Beer Stand, a funny t-shirt, complaining about the state of politics, a Peanut Buster Parfait, PBS programs on Sunday morning, giving his grandkids a loving pinch, a good survival YouTube channel, a standing lunch date on Friday, watching the Tigers play, donating money to area casinos, a quality Chinese buffet, his spot on the couch, reminiscing about “back in the day,” a morning spent deer hunting, an afternoon spent napping and, most of all, his wife and kids.
A private service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to NMDP Unite, an organization helping to find cures for blood cancers and disorders, or Centrica Care Navigators.
