Kalamazoo Passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013 in Kalamazoo. Charles was born December 20, 1926 in Grand Rapids, MI a son of the late Charles H. and Inez Belle Houghton Fewless. We can add anything about his early age and schools here
Charles joined the United States Navy in 1944, surviving during WW II, and following that, he enlisted in the Army, where he served during the Korean War. After military service, he joined the Grand Rapids Police Department, working from 1946 to 1957. In 1957, he joined the Wyoming Police Department, until retiring in 1984. On December 15, 1986, he married Virginia Pearl Cutler, who survives. Charles is also survived by his children, Ruth Ann Thomas Rauwerda, of Wayland, William Anthony Barbara Fewless of Grand Ledge, MI and Judy Kathleen Patrick Marshall of Shelbyville, MI; step-children, Kenneth Nancy Miner of Harrison, MI., Virginia Jay Alferink of Comstock, Robyn C. Donald West of Holton, MI and Karen L. Leslie Richwine of Drummond Island, MI; 16 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 6 great great-grandchildren; brothers, Marvin Diane Fewless of Eugene, OR and Donald Joan Fewless of Belmont, MI; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents' a son, Bruce Charles Fewless; and a sister, Norma Millhoupt. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St., with Rev. Steven Charnley and Rev, Fr. Stanley Witek officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery, South. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission.
