BEHM, Charles H. Kalamazoo Passed away May 29, 2007 at St. John?s Hospital in Detroit. Charlie was born January 7, 1947 in Chicago, IL, the son of Julius and Frances Padell Behm and had lived in Kalamazoo for most of his life. He was a graduate of the Old Kalamazoo Central High School, Class of 1965 and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era. He was employed for several years at Kalamazoo Stamp and Die. Charlie was a life member of the Comstock V.F.W. Post #6252 and also a member of the American Legion. He loved to play any kind of board games, especially war games like Flames of War and Pirates. He volunteered his time as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are 3 brothers, Richard Amy Behm of Colorado, Norman Cathy Behm of Kalamazoo and Roy Behm of Ann Arbor; half-sister Madeline Barris of New Jersey; niece and nephews, Jessica, Michael and J. J. Behm; several aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 o?clock Thursday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. with the Rev. Msgr. Michael Hazard officiating. Interment in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Friends may meet the family on Wednesday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Charlie?s caretakers Molly, Rudy and Dennis; a special thank you to DJ and all his gaming buddies for the time spent playing board games with Charlie every Sunday and special thanks to Lucille Hazell and her family for their act of kindness to the family in their time of sorrow. Memorial contributions in Charlie?s memory may be made to the Special Olympics, Central Michigan University, Mt. Pleasant, MI 48859.
