BALLETT, Charles J. "Chuck"
Of Kalamazoo Passed away at home, Tuesday evening, February 28, 2012 after a brief illness. Chuck was born May 21, 1949 in Kalamazoo the son of James and Lousina Stoops Ballett and had been a lifelong resident in the Kalamazoo area. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Coast Guard on the Ice Cutter Northwind. Chuck was a very active member of Bethany Reformed Church and worked for 40 years at the Meijer's store on Westnedge. In his younger years he played baseball with the Oshtemo Little League at Flesher Field. Chuck enjoyed spending time with his family and his 2 dogs Atti and Buddy; especially trips up north to his cabin with his son, and the Drag Racing Nationals with his sister. He was preceded in death by his father, James on October 31, 1976. He is survived by his son Aaron Ballett; step-daughter, Melissa Bailey; mother, Sina Ballett; brother and sisters, Roy "Butch" LaVonne Ballett, Bonnie L. Vose, Nancy Ian Frost; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11:00 o'clock Friday at the Bethany Reformed Church, 1833 S. Burdick with Rev. Dr. Robert Terwilliger and Rev. Mark Kraai officiating. Interment will be in Genesee Prairie Cemetery. Friends may meet the family on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Bethany Reformed Church, or Heartland Hospice.
