Charlene A. Austin

AUSTIN, CHARLENE A. of Kalamazoo, MI Died July 24, 2009 at Bronson Hospital. Charlene was born May 16, 1930 in Kalamazoo, MI, the daughter of Charles and Delia Kerr Austin and was a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo. Prior to her retirement in 1982, she was employed as a telephone operator at Michigan Bell for 32 years. Charlene was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kalamazoo, the Telephone Pioneers of America and a life member of the Corinthian Chapter, #123 of the O.E.S. She is survived by a sister Martha Austin of Kalamazoo and many special supportive friends. Friends may meet the family from 10 - 11 am on Monday with services to be held at 11:00 am at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. 343-1508 with Dr. Mary Beth Sarhatt officiating. A luncheon will follow at the funeral home followed by a graveside service at 1:15 pm at Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Charlene's memory may be made to the First Baptist Church of Kalamazoo or the Oakwood Neighborhood Association food pantry.
