Passed away December 14, 2010 at Crystal Woods. Cecil was born December 4, 1922 in Shelby, MI, a son of Frederick and Desi Kerr and had lived in Kalamazoo since 1958. He graduated from Shelby High School in 1940 and received a degree in Agriculture from MSU in 1946 and a Masters Degree in Biology in 1952. Cecil taught in Mesick, MI for four years and later was employed as the County Agricultural Agent for Bay County. Cecil was a member of the Portage United Church of Christ and the Kalamazoo Downtown Rotary Club. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife Ruth in 1984, by a grandson Justin Kerr in 2008 and by 3 sisters. In 1988, Cecil was married to the former Myrtle Hereid Baker, who survives. Also surviving are 4 children, Ron Kerr, Nancy Mark Cool, Larry Kerr and Susan Mark Harrison; 5 grandchildren, Eric, Ami, Alexa, Christy and Lee; 4 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Friends may meet the family beginning at 10 am on Saturday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. Funeral services will be held at 11 am with the Rev. Scott Oberle of the Portage United Church of Christ officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions in Cecil's memory be made to the Alzheimers Association.
