BLAND, Cecil C. Kalamazoo Cecil left to be with his Lord and Savior, Thursday evening, March 30, 2007, following a lengthy illness. He was born January 26, 1930 in Ronceverte, WV, the oldest of five sons to the late John W. and Pauline Honaker Bland. On July 1, 1950, he married the love of his life, Dorothea ?Dottie? Fernandez; and they soon moved to Kalamazoo to start their family. Cecil had a strong work ethic and was a jack-of-all-trades, who enjoyed a variety of jobs over his lifetime, including machine tender at Allied Paper King Mill, parts inspector at Eaton Transmission Corp., and custodian at Vicksburg United Methodist Church, where he was a member. Cecil loved his family and friends and life at Pickerel Lake. Surviving are 4 children, Michael Bland, Robert Carla Bland, Susan Bland, and Jeff Sandra Bland; 3 grandchildren, Robbie, Kelly, Kyle Bland; and 1 brother, David Maureen Bland. Preceding him in death are his wife, Dottie Bland, on January 14, 2007; and 3 brothers, Paul, John, and Pat Bland. Memorial services for Mr. Bland will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, with Rev. Bufford Coe officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of services. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to Vicksburg United Methodist Church.
