Cathleen M. 'Kate' Schafer

SCHAFER, Cathleen M. "Kate" Kate passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013. She was born April 2, 1951 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of the late William and Donna Dignan Schafer. She was employed most of the life in the family business, Schafer's Flowers. Surviving are her two children, Bill Schafer of Kalamazoo and Laura Hewitt of Kentucky; grandson, Cole Schafer; sister, Patti Schafer of Portage; twin brother, Charlie Linda Schafer of Portage; brother, Tom Schafer of Gobles; another set of loving parents, Ken and Sis Belson of Florida; cousins, Carolyn Dignan and cousins from the Schafer and Cardosi families; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Kate will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
