SAYWER, Catherine ?Kay? Ludwig Kalamazoo Kay passed away peacefully, with her loved ones at her side on, Thursday afternoon, April 12, 2007. She was born December 26, 1920, in Highland, WI, the oldest of eight children to Clarence and Anna Prochaska Grimm. Kay was a devoted volunteer, chairing fundraising efforts, for the American Cancer Society for over 25 years. She was a lifetime and founding member of Comstock VFW Post #6252 Ladies Auxiliary, since 1945 and served as their dedicated Cancer Chair for over 20 years. Kay was also an American Legion Ladies Auxiliary member since 1986. She loved serving her loyal customers as an Avon representative for the last 41 years. On August 2, 1945, Kay was married to Clare Ludwig, and they shared a loving and devoted life together, until his death on January 13, 1977. On August 9, 1986, she was married to Stewart Sawyer, who survives. Also surviving are three children; Karen Curtiss of Kalamazoo, Cathy Cliff Stantz of Plainwell, and John Marles Ludwig of Scotts; six grandchildren, Eric fiancée Tatiana Tkachuk and Scott Curtiss, Jeffrey Watson, and John-Paul, Nicholas, and Danielle Ludwig; two step-daughters, Donna Mapes of Mottville, and Betty Ray Terry of Liberty, KY; three brothers, Tom Mary Grimm of Muscoda, WI, Bill Mary Ann Grimm of Muscoda, WI, Del Audrey Grimm of Wyocena, WI; two sisters-in-law, Pat Grimm of Dodgeville, WI, and Katy Grimm of Muscoda, WI; special family friend, Ross Schweikert; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her first husband, Clare Ludwig; one step-daughter, Jeanie Featherstone; three brothers, Robert Hedy Grimm, Fritz Grimm, and Clifford Grimm; and one sister, Winifred Lee Walker. Funeral services for Kay will be at 11:00 AM on Monday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Sunday at the funeral home, with the Comstock VFW Ladies Auxiliary memorial service at 7:00 PM and a rosary at 7:30 PM.
