Catherine Porter, age 87, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2018 in Portage MI. She was born in Kalamazoo, MI on October 9, 1930 a daughter of John and Kate (DeSmit) Bogard, Sr. and had been a lifelong area resident. Catherine retired from W-L Molding Company. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, canning, camping and spending time at the family's lake property. On May 3, 1950 Catherine married Clarence E. Porter who preceded her in death in 2001. She was also preceded in death by a son, William E. Porter, Sr.; her parents; two sisters, Ann Davis and Helen Mower; and a brother, John Bogard, Jr. Catherine is survived by two children, Sharon K. Merriam and Robert J. Porter of Portage; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved companion, "Moose" the Beagle. Visitation will be held from 12pm to 2pm on Friday, April 27th at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Interment in Mount Ever Rest Memorial Park, South will follow the visitation. Memorials may be directed to the American Lung Association.
