CASEY HARRY

Casey Harry passed away peacefully at home on March 30, 2016 in the loving care of his wife Barbara of 64 years and his family after a brave struggle. Born February 11, 1933 Casey lived the life he chose with no regrets. During his long and fruitful career he was a role model and always a central figure within his sphere. Casey attended Pontiac schools where he competed in multiple sports, managed parking lots in Pontiac and Toledo, and became a tool and die maker at General Motors-Fisher Body in Grand Blanc, Michigan and then Kalamazoo, Michigan for 35 years, retiring in 1988. He also was a real estate agent, lab courier and near scratch golfer into his late 70's. During his life Casey held many elected and appointed leadership positions including 8 years as UAW president of local 488 in Kalamazoo, MI, UAW International, Region 1D in Grand Rapids, MI, and 14 years as Chairman of the UAW Retirees local 488 in Kalamazoo, MI. He was a lifelong motivator and teacher participating in many organizations including Boy Scoutmaster with Troop 236, Tall Pine Council, Flint, MI, Big Brothers, and a lengthy stint with Barbara mentoring with the Kid's Hope program sponsored by the Galesburg Methodist Church and conducted through the Galesburg-Augusta Schools. He was a member of the Galesburg Methodist Church, head usher and a long-time church pantry volunteer. Along with his beloved golf game Casey remained a staunch supporter and fan of Galesburg-Augusta High School Sports and the Michigan State University football and basketball programs, and managed multiple golf leagues simultaneously. Casey is survived by his lovely wife Barbara; sisters, Mary Andrews, Pauline Sinsabaugh and Arlene Roscoe. Surviving children include: Dan Harry (Malichan), Gene Harry (Andrea), Ellen [Harry] Sullivan (Tim) and Amanda Losure-Stetten (Mike). Grandchildren include: Christopher Harry, Casey Harry, Zache Harry, John Harry, James Harry, Matthew Timmer (Tiffany), Allison Timmer (Anthony), Katelyn Timmer (Tom), Kristin Timmer, Keith Sullivan, Danielle Sullivan, Amber [Sullivan] Ruff, Kenneth Losure (Andrea), Alyssa Dunn (Kieran), and Ryan Stetten (Kelly). Casey is also survived by great grandchildren including Sammy Rust, Elizabeth Harry, Peyton Harry, Devon Harry, Summer Timmer, Malina Timmer, Isla Timmer, AJ Hayes, Alex Hayes, Elliott Losure, Audrey Stetten, Grant Stetten, and Lauren Stetten. Casey survived his parents James and Sarah Harry; brothers, James Harry, Eugene Harry; sisters Rose Partain, Dorothy Bivens, Ethel Tisdale; and his beloved granddaughter Ashlie E. Losure. Other surviving family members include Renee Andrews, Pam Augustyn, Roxanna Partain, and Ervin Partain, Rob Marcino, Laura Bivens and Eric Bivens. There will be a reception on Friday, April 8, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the Galesburg Methodist Church located at 111 W. Battle Creek Street, Galesburg, MI 49053 followed by a service at 11:00 AM and a luncheon immediately thereafter. Donations/Memorials may be made to the Galesburg Methodist Church Pantry at the church address.
